TVP A bland-tasting, dried, granular product produced from highly refined defatted soybean meal. It's used in countless meat analog products, from soy burgers to hot dogs, and also as an extender in myriad processed foods from breakfast cereal to frozen desserts. TVP can be found in bulk and 1-pound bags in natural food stores. It should be noted that TVP can cause gastric distress because it contains gas-producing oligosaccharides (see beans).
