Date added: November 15, 2007

Ingredients

  • 4 ounce-weight sausage, turkey, italian, hot, link, raw
  • 1 serving cooking spray, olive oil, 1/3 sec spray
  • 1 cup peppers, bell, red, sweet, fresh, sliced
  • 1 cup peppers, bell, yellow, sweet, fresh, strips
  • 1 piece pizza crust, original, rth
  • 1 cup sauce, pasta, marinara, homestyle
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste, unsalted, 6oz can
  • 1 cup cheese, mozzarella & provolone, shredded
  • 1/2 tsp herb, oregano, whole, pure, dried

Recipe Method

1. Preheat oven to 450 F.

2. Remove casings from sausage. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add sausage and bell peppers to pan; cook 6 minutes or until bell peppers are crisp-tender and sausage is browned, stirring frequently.

3. Place pizza crust on a large baking sheet. Combine marinara sauce and tomato paste, stirring with a whisk; spreak evenly over crust, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle with cheese and oregano; top evenly with sausage mixture. Bake at 450 F. for 15 minutes or until cheese melts and the crust is lightly browned. Remove from oven; let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1 slice).
