  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1 small bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup water plus 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
  • 1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce
  • 1/8 tsp horseradish
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp ground dill
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp ground basil
  • 1 pound frozen shrimp, peeled, deveined
  • 4 servings hot cooked pasta or 3 cups hot cooked rice

Recipe Method

1. Saute onion, celery and bell pepper in olive oil and butter until onion is transparent.

2. Stir in flour and bouillon mixture; stir until thickened.

3. Add hot pepper sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, cheese, tomato juice, lemon juice, chili sauce, dill, thyme and basil. Stir until cheese melts. Add shrimp; simmer 5 minutes.

4. Serve piping hot over hot cooked pasta or rice.
