Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 pound beef, top sirloin steaks cut 1 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce, shoyu, low sodium
  • 2 tbsp spice, ginger root, fresh
  • 6 garlic, cloves, fresh
  • 1 tsp oil, canola
  • 1 tbsp vinegar, cider
  • 2 tsp spice blend, chinese five spice, pwd, intl
  • 1 tsp chili peppers, red, hot, fresh, chpd

Recipe Method

1. Trim fat from steaks. Place steaks in a resealable plastic bag set in a deep bowl. In a small bowl combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic, oil, cider vinegar, five-spice powder and crushed red pepper; pour over steaks. Seal bag; turn to coat steaks. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or up to 6 hours, turning bag occasionally.

2. Drain steaks; discard marinade. Place steaks on rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals. Grill until desired doneness, turning once halfway through grilling time. Allow 14 to 18 minutes for medium-rare doneness (145 F.) or 18 to 22 minutes for medium doneness (160 F.).
