A simple snack that can also be a component in many gourmet dishes when you want that sweet and unique texture that only candied walnuts can provide.
1. First step is to make some simple syrup. Simple syrup is simply equal parts of water and sugar in a pot, boiled for 5 minutes. Cook the syrup until you get a slightly thicker consistency, roughly 7 minutes.
2. Blanch your walnuts in a pot of boiling water for 30 seconds. Drain, then place walnuts into the simple syrup mixture, making sure it is evenly coated before straining it once more.
3. Fill a wok or a large pan with the oil and deep fry walnuts until the walnuts start browning.
4. Transfer walnuts into a baking sheet and leave to cool.
