  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar

Recipe Method

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Work butter, flour, and sugar with hands until smooth. Form into large ball. Wrap in waxed paper and chill for 30 minutes.

3. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness.

4. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 5 minutes, reduce temperature to 300 degrees and bake for 10 to 15 minutes more. Cool completely on wire racks.
