1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a 9 inch square cake tin and line with baking paper. Bring water to boil, add chopped dates into the hot water. Remove from the heat and stir it until the dates become soft. Set aside.
2. Add all dry ingredients into a big mixing bowl, mix them combine together. Add in cold butter, mix it for 3 minutes.
3. Place half of the mix on the cake pan and press into the base, or using a small rolling pin to roll it flat.
4. Spread dates filling over the baking pan lined with oat mixture without breaking the bottom crust. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture over dates. Bake at 350F for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
