1. Trim fat from steak. Cut steak inot 1-inch pieces. In a 4-quart Dutch oven combine meat, onions, beef broth, the water, salt, thyme, pepper and garlic. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
2. Stir in potatoes, carrots and mushrooms. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes more or until meat and vegetables are tender.
3. Stir in undrained tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir in peas; heat through.
