German Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 ounce-weight German chocolate squares
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 3 cup flour, all purpose, bleached, enrich sifted with baking sada and salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt, table
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 sticks butter, unsalted
  • 4 eggs, whole
  • 1 cup milk, buttermilk, cultured

Recipe Method

1. Partially melt chocolate over hot water. Remove and stir rapidly until entirely melted. Cool.

2. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, vanilla and buttermilk. Then flour mixture. Stir in chocolate until blended.

3. Bake at 300-325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours in greased and floured bundt pan. Remove from pan and place under tight cover until thoroughly cold.
