  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, fresh, pces/slices
  • 1/4 cup onion, green, chpd, fresh
  • 2 tbsp bread crumbs, dry, grated, plain
  • 2 tbsp milk, nonfat/skim, w/o add vit a
  • 2 tsp soy sauce, shoyu, low sodium
  • 1/4 tsp spice, pepper, black, ground
  • 12 ounce-weight beef, lean ground
  • 4 hamburger buns, whole wheat split and toasted
  • 15 hot mustard
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 cup Chinese cabbage shredded

Recipe Method

1. In a medium bowl stir together mushrooms, green onions, bread crumbs, milk, soy sauce and pepper. Add the ground beef; mix well. Form meat mixture into four 1/2-inch-thick patties.

2. Place patties on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals. Grill for 10 to 13 minutes or until meat is done (160 F), turning once halfway through grilling time.

3. If desired, spread buns with hot mustard. Top buns with patties, tomatoes and cabbage.

To Broil: Place patties on the unheated rack of a broiler pan. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 10 to 12 minutes or until meat is done (160 F.), turning once halfway through broiling time.
