Pineapple-Pear Crisp

Ingredients

  • 5 (about 1 3/4 lbs.)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
  • 1 1/4 cup pineapple, fresh, dices
  • 2/3 cup oats, rolled, old fashioned
  • 1/4 cup hazelnuts (filberts) or pecans
  • 2 tbsp sugar, brown, packed
  • 1 tbsp flour, whole wheat
  • 1/4 tsp ginger, ground
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg, ground
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 1/2 cup frozen yogurt, vanilla, lowfat

Recipe Method

1. If desired, peel pears. Core and halve them lengthwise. Arrange, cut sides up, in a 2-quart rectangular baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Top with pineapple.

2. In a medium bowl combine oats, nuts, brown sugar, flour, ginger and nutmeg. Stir in melted butter until well mixed. Sprinkle oat mixture over fruit.

3. Bake in a 375 F. oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until pears are tender. Serve with frozen yogurt.
